No they don't need mats. They need a good rough slab of concret to keep them from skidding across the grond when they come off the end.

i don't think they need a pad to stop because they aren't going to make it that far once they hit the cheese grater part of the slide,it will pretty much be a dead stop!!

You've all missed the point, there should be a pool of alcohol to slide into.

What about the risk of infection sheesh.

I totally agree! I had an infection once, infections are bad news.
