Cheap Mods for MORE Boost!
#2
i went to a pep boys and bought a "Power Adder" intake, a couple of clamps a 45 degree bent tube and made a intake out of it. I also disassembled some of that battery box and fitted the intake right in there. in all it was under $70 and probably spent like 2 hours in total. overall power rating, i get more out of the turbo now, but it isn't anything like throwing a tuner on it.

the stock turbo is only efficient up to 25 PSI of boost anything over that and you're pissing in the wind.
NEED MORE INFO on what youve got, and what you want to do.

I was talking to a truck puller a couple weeks ago and he said he heard about bending the fins just a bit to make them catch the air better. He didnt know which side, but I would assume exhaust. He was going to research this a bit more. Has anybody heard anything like that?
Smoke - Did that hurt your milage like unplugging the red line? When is pumpkin fest?

That said, yanking the wastegate is quick, easy no-brainer, and is good for 2-3 psi, but you have to have the backup mods to go with it. That would be the intake, exaust preferably, gauges, and chip. At that point, you will easily max out the stock turbo and beyond. I unplugged my waste gate line and it was a noticable, measureable difference on the boost gauge. BUT, I got surge and too, so I installed the Wicked Wheel. No more surge and no more overboost (tops out right at 25 now).
More boost is good, but only with supporting mods and only up to what the stock turbo can handle.

You really don't want to start messing with the turbo vanes or you going to screw stuff up bad. If it was done, the adjustments would need to absolutely perfect on all vanes otherwise imbalance and your turbo will be destroyed, along with the engine, more than likely. If you really want more boost do all the mods stated(exhaust, intake, chip), get an ATS housing for the turbo, to avoid getting surge, and this should allow you a little higher boost numbers, also make sure you get gauges, especially a pyro guage.
