BOM help

Hey guys - for some reason I thought there was a site or something to decode the BOM off a Dana axle. I've done a search and haven't come across much other than people talking about the BOM.
I'm trying to figure out what D60 front I have run across. Looking for gear ratio mainly but also year or anything else interseting the BOM may tell.

Is there a site out there? Or, if anyone could decode it for me that would work well too. It's a Dana 60 FRONT axle BOM: 610313 1C

Way too many pages to have them up.

I'll look yours up.

This will only go back to 1983 or so. Anything older, and you have to look it up in a paper catalog, or google it.

eh, either ratio stinks for serious offroading, and finding good used gears cheap, or another axle to match the rear is easy enough.

I was hoping for 3.73s or 4.10's because then I could just find a complete rear and run it. I need pretty tall gears due to putting a diesel in it. 3.54's might actually be ok seeing as I'm only running 35's, but they're borderline being too tall. I'll probably have them swapped out for 3.73's or 4.10's

35's and 3.54, I imagine you could go like 100MPH and not crowd the motor.

yup! That's why I was kinda planning on/hoping for 3.73's. They're a little bit shorter, but not short enough to make my top freeway speed 70. 100 mph is just fine with me. We'll have to see if the old girl is fine with it too though...

I've had a bunch of the guys on the cummins forum tell me they run 35's with their stock 3.54's and they like them. They can still make longer road trips at speed and not be stuck crawling on the freeway due to shorter gears making the RPMs too high. That plus they can still tow from time to time (like I will) and it's not a problem due to the monster torque these things make.

Heh, if you want 3.73's, regear to 4.10 and run 37's

haha - you sound like the guys on the cummins board.
I'm not into the HUGE truck deal (even though the ranger has 35's - it sits LOW), and although 37's seem small to some of the mud and trail guys they are too big.
The girl already makes a big deal about climbing in the crew with the 35's, so I don't need to give her any more reason to gripe. Plus the thing looks clean/just right with the 35's, and there is a lesser load on the parts. Truck will be overbuilt for 35's but I'm 99% sure they're staying that size.

That is gonna mess up the whole plan huh? I measured the 14B for you, and it is a little narrow. It came out of a SRW step van and has 4.10;s with an open diff. Guess that is why it fits well under the Yota.
The other two D70's I have are also open, and they both have 4.56's.
Looks like gear changes are going to be in order huh?
Anyway, are you working tomorrow? I am taking the engine down to San Dimas for a few Dyno pulls, and thought you might want to tag along. Gonna tune the engine and try like the dickens to get some power out of it before I drop it in thurs or fri.
Pm me, or mail me, or just give me a call.

The original plan was to go with whatever gears this D60 front had in it, and then just find a corp 14 that would match. That way I wouldn't have to pay to re-gear anything. BUT, that is back when I thought it "had" to have 4.10's or 3.73's though.

Finding out it has the 3.54's throws a kink in the plans. I guess now the plan is to find a Corp 14 with 3.73's or 4.10's and re-gear this front to match. Or I could just leave the rear D60 with 4.10's that is in it now in there until the cummins is in, then do a freeway run and figure out if I should keep the 4.10's or go 3.73's

Clear as mud????

Sorry Ed - can't go play tomorrow - I got some catching up to do this week after slacking off a bit last week...
