Well today I had to run into the bank real fast before I went to class.. Parked on the road in the side spots with my rear towards oncoming traffic.. Didn't think anything of it.. It's tight downtown but figure people would use their heads and move over to avoid hitting anything.. I put the mirror in just to be safe.. Well someone smacked it I believe with their mirror.. It's not in a direction for a rock to have it, nor anything on the road I dont think.. It wasn't there 3 hours prior when I went to tire shop to air tires down.. I went back to office and parked infront of the window.. So I dunno.. Anyone know what I can do to remove it.. Most the scrape is in the clear coat.. On the 3rd picture the greyish is the primer.. Overall its the size of a quarter..
Its not keyed either.. Again truck has been infront of my office window all day in plain sight.. I thought that too but the pattern isn't right.. However it is in the area for a truck mirror to tap it... My friends say thats what looks like happen, someone hit it with the mirror and their mirror folded in..
Yeah.. Considering Truck Show is next weekend.. Yeah perfect timing
If anyone has any ideas what I can do to buff it out.. I'm a non-detail dude.. I have NO experience fixing or dealing with paint.. I pay people to do it lol.. Is there anything I can do.. The parts that are down to the primer are like pen size.. Very small, so I can use one of those scratch pens for the time being.. Im getting it painted next year.. Just that other crap thats in the clear coat..
Yea. my tailgate and passenger side rear taillight got tagged at Walmart a few weeks ago. I was less than ammused. My tailgate now has a msll dent thanks to some inconsiderate clod who has no respect....oh, never mind.
Storm, sorry to say this, but if you'r down to the primer that will not rub out. Best you can do without a repaint is to smooth it out and make it shine.
That sucks! I uaually park in the back of the lot when I can and take two spots Because when ever I don't it seems like some retard in an suv parks all crooked in the spot next to me and gets my door. Thats another thing that pisses me off these people who can't park (let alone drive) these suv's and then give me a dirty look for taking two spots. I have even made the comment before DON'T GET PISSED AT ME YOUR THE ONE WHO CAN'T PARK STRAIGHT!
Hey Redford.....it might be too late now, but almost all Walmarts have video cameras now. Definitely call them and see if they have it in the archive videos! You never said if the people left a note or not though? Hopefully they did!

You can use a rubbing compound to rub out most of the marks. Fill the deep scratch with the color pen and then wax over the whole area. It is the quickest fix. Do NOT use a power buffer tho. You want to just rub till the marks are removed.

Any good quality rubbing compound. It is usually used to buff out small scratches before you do a good wax on a vehicle. Any auto parts store sells it and even the big discount store like Wally world has it. It is coarse so rub just hard enough to remove the marks. It goes on about like wax but it doesn't leave a shine, that's why you wax after the buffing compound has been removed. Hope this helps.
Storm, That's what I did to mine. Had some surface scratches on the side of the bed from an over zealous car wash by the kids. Normally I wouldn't have worried about it, but it was right by fuel cap so I saw it all the time. Took some rubbing compound and just hand buffed it out.. I used the really fine stuff, doesn't look much different than wax. Got the scratches out, then waxed it.. Good as new.
None of mine hit the primer, so I didn't need the touch up pen.
Tuesday I get my hood installed.. Think Imma ask them if they can do anything.. They have more experience in it then me.. My luck i'd take half my paint with it LOL
