I want to propose to my girlfriend sometime soon. We talked about this way along time ago and she would love to have it where there are a lot of people present. I couldnt ever think of anything thats reasonable. Ideas please? Although I got somebody and they said hey why not do it Christmas day when we go to her parents house. If your married where did you propose at?
I proposed to my wife in my Volkswagon beetle. Talk to somebody at the local high school and set it up to propose to her during halftime at the football game. There will be lots of people there. You could even secretly invite the parents to be there too.
I proposed to my wife in private as well. Seems it is too serious a subject to be distracted by anyone else around. But that's just me.
And fortunately she said yes.
Perhaps the "public" version could include the ring?
Why does she want it with a lot of people around? Just curious. Does she demand a lot of attention to be on her all the time? If so you will have problems down the road. Listen to this first. www.ebaumsworld.com/audio/play/3735
I proposed to my first wife, in a state of drunkeness, like an idiot.
I shoulda never married that ________ (fill in the blank).
One daughter. That was the only good thing to come out of that marriage.
I wouldn't trade her for all of the money in the world.
I digress. . . .
My second (and last) wife. . . I proposed to her on the beach, with my daughter (5 at the time) and her son (6 at the time) with us.
It was just after sunrise. New Smyrna Beach, Florida.
The kids were excited!
I had known this young woman since we were teenagers, and had dated many, many years ago, before we both married other people.
I took my girlfriend to a Jewelry store one day and told her to pick out the ring she wanted.
Who says I aint a romantic?
We had talked about getting married but I never proposed.

From previous posts, all within the last few months:
Ok im really far into the whole now with debts... now i got the payday people calling me ten times a day a long with other collection agencies ...My dad told me https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/6...ml#post4832768
So the picture is - young guy, recently out of high school, no skills or special training threefore few prospects, spent much of the last year unemployed, deeply in debt, very recently finally found a job to get out of the hole but it basically consumes his entire week, has dreams of going to college but clearly that's on hold with a 68-hour a week job.....and a long-time girlfiend who'd like to be proposed to very publicly.
You really want to pile a marriage, setting up house, etc etc on top of all that already?
Hate to sound negative, but reality sucks sometimes - I'd do two things:
1 - Put Robert Palmer's "Johnny and Mary" and John Mellencamp's "Little Pink Houses" on your MP3 player and set it to play them over and over again for a couple of days.
2 - Take these two words from your own post: "My dad " and go get some life advice from the guy best situated to have a fully informed, obective opinion, and your best interests at heart.
Fred since ive posted those ive became out of debt for the most part. I have a real good job with a real well known company (Georgia PAcific) Im making about a grand a week. I even have money stashed away in the bank.
Propose to your future wife the way YOU want to. Otherwise, let her propose to you. I proposed to my wife in private. After she said "yes" and put the ring on, we drove to her parent's house to break the news. She never asked for a ring and actually told me that a downpayment on a house was much more important than a ring. That's why I got her a ring. 10 years later, she still doesn't ask anything of me. Therefore, I just bought her a new Ford Edge.
My husband proposed to me after 4 1/2 months of dating. He'd bought the engagement ring after 3 months of dating. I guess he thought I was special!
I had no clue, but he took me out to dinner one night and suggested we go on a horse-drawn carriage ride after. This was December 21st in 1985. It was cold out in Kansas City.
When we finally got a carriage and started our ride, he handed me a wrapped ring box. I had been admiring a garnet stone ring (my birthstone) for some time and I had it in layaway paying for it myself, so I thought "oh my gawd, he bought me this ring and I already have it on layaway!"
Turns out to be a lovely solitaire diamond and he asked me if I would marry him. Of course I said YES and we have been married for 20 years now. We got married exactly one year from the day we met...at a nightclub :smirk:
Whatever you decide to do, if you put forth any sort of effort to suprise her, she will be ecstatic!
"We talked about this way along time ago and she would love to have it where there are a lot of people present."
not much of proposal if you 2 already talked about it.
also, beleive it or not, you do not have to pay large sums of money for rings and such, so do not put your self in debt for it like so many do.
propose the way you want to, heck, a proposal is not even suppose to be a planned event, it is suppose to be more along a surprise, not something that gets talked about then agrred upon when and where to do the "official" proposal then watch the fake surprise on her face.
and another thing, the wedding, beleive it or not, you do not have to spend thousands upon thousands of dollars on that either.
I proposed to my wife on the balcony above the main entrance of the ******* opryland hotel in nashville,tn around 11:30 at night all by our lonesome selves. I gave her the ring that had been one of my mothers from years ago that she had promised to me for when I wanted to marry. She said yes and we were married less than a year later on may 22.
Every once in a while I get some flak due to the fact that I didn't hit the knee. I went for an unusual proposal so I leaned her against the side wall and kissed her then pulled the ring from my pocket and asked her if she'd go through life with me and marry me.
Three years and runnin.....I love her with all my heart.......even though she is a fiesty red head!!!!!
