not working and debts

Ok im really far into the whole now with debts... I have over a thousand in credit card debt and there behind because I havent had the money to pay them.. I had to get a payday loan and dont have the money to pay it back and now i got the payday people calling me ten times a day a long with other collection agencies because of non payment...i really am scared i might get in trouble. My dad told me as long as long as i make an attempt to pay them with what ever i can afford the law cant do anything can they? Right now I have zero income unless I can get my unemployment (See my other thread) then Ill be bringing in 243 with the unemployment check. So if I make an attempt at paying my debts I should be allright with not getting in trouble with the law or getting taken to court?

pay them $20 a month, but your credit will be ruined.
do what you have to, shovel crap off the books, whatever you have to do!
get them paid and shred the credit card.
joing the military!

Don't be too proud to flip burgers until you find something better....it's better than nothing.

Do you follow up on your applications? Phone? E-mail?

Cut your credit cards up now while you still can. A thousand may seem like a lot now, but when it comes to credit cards, that's nothing. That thousand will make friends and multiply quickly. When you do get a job, do whatever you can to pay them off yesterday. Eat beans and rice for a few months, bike to work, whatever it takes.

There was a time when I thought a thousand was a lot of debt...I long for those days...

I noticed that you are from the Cincinnati area. Go over to the Hebron area. They are always hiring warehouse and other jobs like that by the airport.

go to www.expresspersonnel.com they are off of Springdale Rd (which is off Colerain Ave) by the Northgate mall. We send people there all the time to look for work. As long as you don't have any felony's you should be fine.

I owe a little under 3k on my CC at the moment. I'm paying $70 a month, so it's not too painful on the wallet.

Do whatever you can to pay it off, do minimum payments if you can, and keep hunting for work. Good luck man!

well, you can always just call the cc company and explain the situation, better than just ignoring it. don't ignore it, call them, tell them.

the payday loan thing...well....they know you don't have money, i highly suggest paying them off asap, they are notorious for their fees, borrow a 100, you will end up paying back 500 if not careful.

don't ever go to a payday loan place by the way.

Spend a week visiting potential employers in person; find them through the yellow pages or other business directories. Dress appropriately and bring copies of your resume. The chances are good that you'll find some job that hasn't been advertised yet, or at least pick up some temporary work.

You are in a position where you must get a job, any job. Even flipping burgers at minimum wage will make you more than 243 dollars (is that a month?). Perhaps where you are it is harder to find work, but around here there are always ads for help in papers looking for construction/ general laborer type positions. Even if you can make 10$ an hour, and if you get lucky enough to be able to work a 10 hour day, thats 500 a week, 2000 a month. sure beats an unreliable 243 bucks from the unemployment agency. Good luck with your search. And believe me, there ARE jobs out there. You just have to find them.
