I have a 73 f 250 4x4 latly i fell that the truck
have no power it is bogging bad in mid to high rpm.
do i need to rebuild the motor or just little adjastment?
it is a 360 / c-6, i have no idea how many miles on the truck.
it is starting like a champ, run kind of ok on low rpm but a complete dog on mid or high rpm.
Be sure ignition timing is properly set. Do a compression test as you will be looking for 150lbs or so per cylinder. If there are a lot of miles on this, the readings will be low thus loss of power.

along with timing, you might want to check the spark plug gap(.044) and the dist. cap and rotor. also check the point gap(if not electronic ignition)the gap should be set at .017
As this is a 73, I would guess that you do not have electronice ignition. It is possible that your distributor is wearing out. Specifically that plate that the points screw onto. This plate moves with vacuum advance and with any moving parts, they can wear out the nylon glides. I found that on my 390 I had a bear of a time until I got that fixed. To see if it make a difference, you could try to disconect your vacuum advance, step up your initial advance and see if you notice any improvement. If you are going to look at a major overhaul of the distributor, you may well want to consider going to an electronic ignition. They were offered on some of the last FE truck engines built. You may find some in your local wrecker, just make certain to get all the wiring harnesses. You may still need to go through the distributor, but at least this way you won't have to worry about points again ;-).
I had basically the same conditions with my 69 390.
It was a few years ago but I bought a rebuilt dist and replaced the points with a pertronics. Then later I added a crane
fireball and crane coil. It ran the quarter then in the high 15's. I use cheapo flotech headers welded where the primaries go to the flange, and port matched to the exhaust flange. I wrapped the headers with that insulating fiberglass tape all the way to the collector-tailpipe flange. This not only keeps it cool and quieter it also keeps the exaust gasses from cooling down and slowing in velocity. The crane fireball is a capacitive discharge-multispark with a built in adj rev limiter and is easily controlled by the pertronics unit. You can get a little plastic adaptor that converts your dist to a larger spaced cap with a hole with a dust cover for phasing your rotor. Aloo get the adj roter.
Also Those old 2barrels really eat gas. I found an aluminum F-427 in a junkyard for 15 dollars and put a modified 4180 on it.
I drilled out the idle air needles. It has anular discharge booster nozzels in the primaries and 4 square idle mix adjust.
Drill out the secondary jet plate to the specs for a performance 4160 with a pin drill.
Have fun.
