On the 7.3 PSD it was recommended that the injector resivior be drained seperately (pumped out) because it does not drain when the oil is changed.
Is this true of the 6.0 PSD also?
I've never heard it seen, done, or recommended. The procedure on a 6.0 is to open the oil filter housing before draining the pan. This allows the filter housing to drain (it has a bypass valve for this) into the pan making it less messy to take out the filter. Just be sure you use an OEM filter (Motorcraft FL-2016, Fram CH9549, Racor, and some purolator's now) Pepboys is having a 2/$7 on Fram filters with a coupon you can print from their website or in their flier. There are other will fit filters out there that won't fit the filter housing correctly and might cause engine damage.
the hpop reservoir is the oil cooler basin. you could not drain these on the 73 or the 60 because the oil pump gears is the check valve for the drain back. if you want to get all the oil out, you also have atleast a quart in the oil rails ontop of the heads.
If you keep your oil changed at routine intervals, I can't see a need to worry about 1 quart of left over - it would not have any significant effect on the oil after the change.
Sounds like a revenue thing for some service depts.
