I have a '05 F-350 with a 6.0L. I had to have the turbo and the EGR Cooler replaced this week. The truck has 51,000 miles on it. THe service department also recommended doing and IGR Flush and a EGR Flush. Can anyone tell me if these are very hard to do or if I need to have a certified shop to do them?
A turbo already? You do let it idle a bit before turning it off or at least before parking about a 5 minutes before you are going to park take it real easy then let idle a minute and turn it off. They are probably going to take them off and spray with carb cleaner.
Do a search in the diesel section and see what those guys are using to clean them it is probably easier than you think. My old foreman used to baby his truck way too much and it hardly was hooked to a trailer, So it had carbon build up all over, The
mechanic got tired of replacing things due to it. He told everybody if you drive that truck romp on that thing do a burn out, get it up to 80mph, overload the trailer.
Basically get it hot enough to burn all that carbon out at least once a month, all these
diesels peopl are buying and not using like you should. These motors crave hard work
It is best to load it at least 60% of the load it can handle every now and then. Get a
water bed mattress and put it in the bed, fill with water, criss cross some straps over it and drive around a few days with it in there!!
