I hate mud, I love 4-wheeling but try to avoid the mud as much as possible. I like mountain trails, down home in W,Va we have nice rocky terrain, even when it rains alot, the trails get slick but not deep mud. When I was younger I loved the mud, but I hate washing my jeep or ranger 6 times to get all the mud off. The car wash in town won't let you use it if you have been mudding with your 4x4. On the first date with my wife I took her wheeling here in ohio in my 86 CJ-7. The top and doors were off and it was may and wet. The poor girl looked like a racoon, all you could see was the whites of her eye's and she was dressed nice to boot. She came back for seconds and even married me, good hillbilly girl. She still complains about it to people when she tells them about our first date. I also made her wash the jeep, she also perfers the mountain trails now hee hee !!!!! I'm looking to get an old YJ for my next project so I can do some more topless wheeling, the wife wanted the liberty cause it has doors, she won't be fooled twice. However, I would be tempted to do the mud thing again if she washes. It for sure is a jeep thing.
I have both, I've allways had an ole jeep of some kind, but ford has allways been my bread and butter vehicles. Jeeps are just toys, an atv on steroids. Ford made a jeep stomper for years, the 66-77 bronco. Thier supost to bring it back by 2010, removable top, straight front axles, the whole 9 yards.
