hey guys, can anyone look up for me which wires i have to snip for TC lockup mod ?
i allready build the box from Guzlze's schematics. i have led. just need to find the wire to cut on 2001 f250
Pete, your wiring should be the same as what the writeup shows for the 99 models. Look for the violet w/yellow trace wire on one of the plugs in the area of the PCM plug. There should be a brown w/orange on one side of it and an orange w/yellow on the other side. The violet w/yellow one is the one you will have to cut.
Other than that, any point that you can find in the cab that is hot only when you turn the key to ON will do for a +12v switched source.
How was the box to build? I am thinking of building one too.
its easy. well cause i do electronics
but dont be affraid, if you take your time it will be easy
all you have to do is to make sure you follow the schematics
thanks Guzzle for fast inforrmation
Mike . i noticed the same thing,
and i have to LOL at HondaZuki
well i have little problem, i tried my RC lockup built from Guzzle's writup and i my dash light flash truck dies when i flip the switch off, when i turn it on its all good, WTH ???
Guzzle if you reading it did you run in to somthing like that?
maybe my relay to slow? i dont know, i have to double check it, but i did allready. so dont know whats causing it,
i can just have the key in Run position and flip the switch on and off and i get water in fuel light, and bunch of others, like check engine and all.
The way the PCM locks up the TC is to simply ground the Purple w/Yellow trace wire while monitoring its electrical load. The TC lockup box does that, severs this circuit and immediately applies a 12v load to the wire feeding to the PCM to fool it into thinking that it is still controlling the TC solenoid, therefore no flashing OD light. When you switch the lockup off, electronically, the circuit is back to its original design configuration.
If you are receiving SES lights with it off, something is not connected correctly. The first thing that comes to mind is mixing up the TC lock wire that goes to the tranny vs. the side that goes to the PCM. .... OR using the wrong contacts on the relay (normally open vs. normally closed)? My schematic shows everything in the off position.
I would suggest double checking the wiring on your circuit as it sounds as if you have something mis-wired. The speed of the relay is un-important as it takes a couple of seconds for the OD light to begin flashing without this fooler anyway.

wel. its only when in turning it off, 2 sec later its ok in off position. it locks tc so its working correctly. well back to the drawing board. maybe i did mess it up... ill check it later.
ok got it sorted out. it was my old DP cable rasing Hell in my truck. never changed it, till today. flipping TC switch would cause DP to reset. i finally got to my senses and looked on it . well its done, and its working.
while i was at it i did my New DP mounting bracket by the gauge.

thanks Ron.....well didnt drive it much but i dont get the SES and whole bunch of lights light up like on christmass when i flip the TC switch LOL. ill make the pix of the gauge mount.
