Now that I have determined my brake warning light works, I need to either clean the switch or replace it. Is it just simply removing a few screws or is there more to it?
So wtroger's suggestion in the other thread did help, is that right?
Here's all I can find on the e-brake switch in my Ford Manual:
"The parking brake signal switch is mounted on the parking brake control. The switch is held in place by a self-tapping screw and aligned with a locater pin."
The switch for the parking brake, is located on the top side of the parking brake assy. Check with a dealer about price. Shouldn't be a big deal to change, just one wire.
Just an update. I took switch off. Only one bolt to remove. I sanded the contacts and cleaned them up. I also sprayed a little WD40 on the spring area. When I was testing it before bolting it back it would work if I played with switch. I took apart and put some di-electric grease on wiring connector. Reinstalled wire and bolt and adjusted switch. Works great every time now.
It seems these switches will not need to be replaced but rather cleaned of any rust and dirt that get on them over time.
