Rear fuel sending problem

1 month ago I realized my front tank was leaking, i decided to just syphon the gas out of front and move to rear and start using just the rear. That went pretty good until I tried starting, it wouldn't. I dropped the rear tank, cleaned tank and replaced fuel pump. Truck ran good for couple days, now it is very hard to start, loss of power, cutting off. Fuel pump will run sometimes in rear tank. I added a little bit of gas in front tank, runs good. My question is is what are why the rear pump is cutting off? Whats the best steps to take? Could it possibly be the selector switch? Short in wiring harness?Bad new pump? Thanks for any help given.
