Distinction

Hey i have an 88 F 150 with the 5.0. My buddy has a 97 F 150 with the 4.6 and my other buddy has an 93 Chevy with the 5.3. They have the same exhaust as i do but they have headersand i don't. They have a distinct sound that i love. It is more of a crackly pop sound expecially when they get on it and i was wondering is there any way to get the same sound??

That sound is most likely due to the headers. The headers are going to give you a very unique/loud/badass sound

Yeah... so simply replace the rest of your exhaust with aftermarket parts... the stock cats really take the edge off, once they go you'll get some crackle.

"Crackly pop" comes from Glass Packs.......You don't say what mufflers all of you have or how old any of them are. They will change sound over time.....specially a glass pack after it burns out.

Performance mufflers "ie" FlowMasters, have more of the deep throaty sound.....and definitely sound different on various motors.

I have Flowmaster 50 series right now on a complete custom exhaust system including headers and it has a crack at certain rpms and throttle positions.

Ok sorry we all have straight pipes. They have true duals I have a Y pipe and they have headers also. The sound is not like a glasspack its more like Firecrackers going off especially when they get on it!!

Yea on a good day my flowmaster 40s with stock manifolds and no cats like to cackle sometimes

That link to that 97 F150 has no mufflers or cats thats why its so cackly
