Truck is a 2005 F250 4x4 Ext. Cab 8ft bed 3.73 rear end with the 6.0 PSD, stock except straight pipe (which will soon be routed to a stack instead of underbody). Also soon to have CAI.
My question is what programmer should I go with. I am looking for more power (of course, can never have enough hahah), switch on the fly options, more smoke, and better mileage. I know these may not all be achieved with one power setting which is why I want to be able to switch between settings.
I have heard a lot of good things about the SCT livewire. Anybody have experience with this or any other quality programmer?? What's my best option to meet my needs??
talk to matt @ spartan diesel. I bought my excal 3 from him with his custome tunes and there is no need to get a switch on the fly option. matt will set you up with a tune that will give you gobs of power and it will be safe for the truck. any other chips will kill the tranny, Heads, or worse..............
Give matt a call. you will not regret it.
Guys thanks for all the info......seems like everyone is very happy with their SCT with custom tuning. What kind of prices are we talking for the programmer with custom tuning?

Only two places IMO to get your custom tunes for the SCT XcalII/III, Matt at Spartan Diesel or Eric at Innovative Diesel.
Price is $450 for the XcalII/III & Custom tunes and from Matt at Spartan this comes with unlimited tunes for as long as you own the tuner. You can find the tuner cheaper at other places on the net but this will only include the "Canned" tunes from SCT and then you will have to pay Matt or Eric for custom tunes, so just buy it from one of them in the first place.
He's claiming 472hp and 1006 torque but he's using shift spikes to base his numbers on which is BOGUS. Maximum hp is less than 440 and only 560 tq on his best run. Good HP but terrible torque. If I wanted to claim shift spikes I could claim WAY higher numbers on Spartan tunes.

I almost replied with "completely stock" just for fun, but I figured someone might have a heart attack before completing their retort.
The truck used/reflected in the charts is not stock. It has a Dfuser Steroid module and exhaust stacks installed (plus the SCT programmer).
I'm going to add this info to my site so that the question gets answered up front. Thanks for pointing this out.
Hmm with a properly programmed SCT, stacking another module inline is not necessary to achieve max Hp & Torque numbers. In addition, stacking is not nearly as safe as a well written custom program on a tuner. If you have to stack and inline module with a tuner then the guy writing the "custom tune" is not up to speed on the 6.0 & torqueshift.

Honestly where did you come up with this? Are you a programmer? Please enlighten me....
