Turbo Surge

I have an early 99, with turbo surge. What can I do to resolve this, all the fixes I see are for 99.5s? Does any body know the difference between the 99 and the 99.5 turbos?

There have been many articles written about this in the 7.3L forum. Let's just start by saying the are a lot of differences, including housing, turbo wheel, inlets, outlets, and the pedistall along with other things. The best fix for the problem is switching out the components to the new style turbo and then buying an upgraded turbo. I know there is alot of work involved with it, but it has been done by others before, there are plenty of guys over there in the 7.3L forum to help you.
