I wasn't sure if the led and socket could handle the outdoors.
I have a couple cb holes in the dash that the PO put in there, but they are in a funky location just to the right of the fuse panel access and I was thinking outloud for other locations.
The GP's are actually on for as long as 2-3 minutes, depending on ambient temperature conditions, which is long past the point where both the WTS light and the fuel pump stops running. You really want to hook this up pretty much the way the OP posted.
I've seen on my very, very early morning starts when it was in the upper teens that even running through two cycles of the WTS light, it's as much as another 1-2 minutes before my headlights brighten up as the GP relay shuts itself off while I'm driving down the road from the driveway.
Well did anyone ever find out if you can add an LED to a cali excursion with the big GPR module? If so which wire is it as that is what i have too, as well as my brother in law. Is this native to all excursions or just cali ones. i did not think mine was a cali excursion, but maybe so. anyway, i just want the light!!!

The only thing with the cali ex is that is has a current measuring for each plug so that if one goes out the ces light comes on alerting that one is out. Without looking at the box I cannot say where to tap into but am sure that is can be done in relatively the same manner. In the box so to say, there will still be a high amp relay of sometype. That is where I'd hook it to if it were me.
Whites, your 10 volt on the relay side is fairly normal for weaker batteries. You really need to know what the battery voltage is at the same time the relay is active. If they are identical, you are fine, if there is more than a .1 or .2 volts, then a new relay is probably in order.
Chris in TX found a pin out diagram of the boxes that he pasted into my post where i stated there was "no glow plug relay, help help" howeveri have very limited knowledge of anything electrical so i am still looking for the right wire to tie into. would you mind having a look at the diagram in the other post and letting me know what you think? thanks!!
ANY LED should be fine as long at it is rated for 12V, just be sure to put an inline fuse (at least thats what I do) to reduse the risk of over loading the LED light and breaking/burning out something...
Yes I noticed that so did a little more research and it was actually fairly simple. Got to your GPCM find the Red with Green indicator on the black harness tap into that. It's the #3 Glow Plug don't ask me why #3 it's just what everyone said they used. Run into the truck with a fuse and ground.
I also changed my Fuel Filters for the first time on this truck. The other owner used an non OEM filter GRRRRR.....But this one had no vent hole and no O-ring on the bottom end?? Ever see this before??
Again thanks for the help on the LED it works great!
