Thanks for the write up on this!!

HA!!! Went to RS's site to check out the LED, and just for grins...(And I didn't want to drive into town), I checked it out in my basket...The LED is $1.99....Shipping is $6.05! hehe guess I drive into town later.
I did the LED this weekend when I installed my gauges, before that I was cycling the GP's too. The LED is very informative, the WTS light, not worth a darn.

I had no idea that the GPs don't come on when they are not needed.

Well I'm no expert but there has to 12volts going to the GPs, I guess it would be a matter of finding it.

What do your batteries read while the glow plugs are lit?

If you mean the output on the relay...It is supposed to be the large connector with the two yellow wires coming out of it.

Just got mine done last night....very nice to know what is going on this morning with the temps in the single digits at night.

Has anyone thought of pulling apart the dash and wiring this to the WTS light instead of an LED? I realize there's several disadvantages like:

1. MUCH more work
2. If you actually wait for the WTS light to go out you could be there a LONG time

Just a thought, and wondering what others think of the idea.

WHITESDFORD - I'd say it's time for you to get a Stancor GPR!! Seriously though, check the battery side first, and if you're getting 12v there then that tells me your current GPR needs a dirt nap.
Do it right, go for more....STANCOR!!! LOL

Only problem is the fuel pump only runs for 20 or 30 seconds once the ignition is turned on. If you wait for the glow plugs to turn off, I'm afraid the fuel pump will have cycled off. Hook this up to the WTS light and if you really wait to start, it may never start.

I've waited past the point where the fuel pump stopped running and she still cranked, but on those really cold mornings, a 90sec wait would probably be a bit much! I guess it was too much for the Ford engineers to make a true WTS system!

I've waited long past the fuel pump shut off, all your pump does is bring up to pressure, if your pressure drops off that quick, I think you have bigger issues.

Can this LED be placed outside the truck? I am not sure if I like the idea, but you could drill a hole in the black stuff out there and have it right in eyesight. Just a thought.
