Exclamation Cant Get Chip To Run -- Help Please !!!

I just borrowed an 80hp chip, shaved away the aluminum box, chip seems to sit good, but truck will not start.

The truck runs fine with the chip pulled out, but as soon as it'd plugged in, it wont run at all.

Anybody had this problem before?

Whose chip is it? Some are married to the PCM by serial number, so you can't do exactly what you're trying. I don't know any more than that, except there's supposed to be a way to unmarry them. Maybe someone else will chime in when you tell us which one you have...

Oh, okay. I have no words of wisdom for you. Can you post a pic or two of it? That would help us identify it...

I would buy a DP-TUNER and be done with it. But then again, you will need other mods to be able to use all the power it has.

Good luck

under the dash, the plastic "holder"(2 bolts) and then the aluminum box with the black plastic cover. (where the chip apparently plugs in)

I was told to shave the aluminum so the chip sits flat.

I personally wouldnt install a chip i wasnt sure about. Pcms and possibly a motor is expensive. Without supporting mods even an 80hp increase, especially without gauges can get you into trouble. I would get gauges and do the 10k mod if ur on a budget.

That is your pcm. Be very carefull with that, you need to do both sides for the chip to work. And only take enough off to start seeing the copper under the coating. I would wait till you get your own chip and do it right. But that is your call, just be carefull with that box.
