I just picked up a 2000, V10 and automatic transmission (with the entire front suspension from a Class "A" Motorhome.) I want to swap it into a 1953 1 Ton.
My question is "Has anyone done this before?" Am I insane to think I can do it? The engine is complete with engine harness attached. However no eec. or mass airflow sensor. How much difference in the V10 from the 250-350 series and what appears to be a 450-650 chassis? Any help out there?
You should be able to do it, I've seen one in an F100 at the Supernats a few years ago. It was VERY COOL! One word of advice is in the late 90's and early 00's the V10's had a problem with not enough threads in the heads for the spark plugs. I've heard of alot of them after just a few miles (around 70k to 80k) blowin the spark plugs out of the heads, and destroyin the coil (coil is on top of the spark plugs) I know Ford offers an "updated" head to correct this problem. Careful not to admit thier flawed design. The dealers offer this redesigned head, or they would put a helicoil in to replace the damaged spark plug threads. Just be warned this is a problem with this engine. As far as the fit if that one cat had one in a F100, you should not have any problem as your F350 is basicly the same truck just more ground clearance. Maybe someone else will chime in on more info on the V10??
I say do it, but I would have grabbed the whole chassis then you would have a matching rear axle and could maybe swap the body on it. The mass airflow sensor will be easy to find but you may have to do some looking for a computer and make sure it is compatible with your transmission.

I got there too late for the other stuff. I bought it on e-bay and he only had the engine, trans, and frnt susp. left. Believe me I wanted to get the rearend too. I was lucky that he didn't know what he had, (got it all for $700) So keep looking! There are still deals out there! It will probably cost me 3 times as much to get the computer stuff working right. I would really like to find someone who has had experience with a similar swap. This engine doesn't have provisions for the EGR stuff. I wonder if thats because it was in such a large rig.
