Does anyone else dislike diesel supercab short bed trucks like me. There are way too many out there and it seems like all they are being driven by super rich buisness guys and trust fund babys who dont know the meaning of work? I feel like it is such a waste of a good machine!!
People buy and drive vehicles for a variety of reasons. It's the same as buying a high performance car but never taking it to the track. Does that mean people shouldn't buy or drive them?
Anyway for people like me that would never be able to afford a new truck and have to buy used I hope I can find one of these cream puff trucks next time I look.

Why would 15 inches make that much difference? Does adding 15 inches to your bed transform you into a worthwhile person?
If a truck lacking 15 inches in the bed causes you to think this way of the owner, you must totally dislike me, considering my truck isn't a Power Stroke, long bed or a crew cab.

The only long beds I ever owned I hated. I like the short box with its shorter wheel base and my trucks work. the shorter wheelbase is handle when manuvering a trailer. My guess is you don't do much towing or if you do you never back up while turning trying to get into a tight spot.
So, i'm a super rich business guy trust fund baby......ha ha... thats a good one. Thanks, got a good laugh outa that one. Right now I'm prepareing to load up with bees this evening to move them into winter quarters wearing jeans and a t shirt with white klizt all over it. Was painting bee hive tops before i came in for a beer and check the forums.
Your welcome to stop by sometime and make the rounds of all the country clubs I have membership at and visit my trust funds in various famrs and cow patty fields where my working girls are located. You may like being around all my working girls but I must warn you they can sting if you don't behave.......Chuckle
Gee golly, I be a...what wuz that ..rich business man trust fund baby....ha ha....
Just because you have a short bed doesn't mean you do not do any work with it. I personally think long beds look a bit dumb because the part of the bed is longer in front of the rear wheels than the back part.
I haul steel, heavy machines and etc around on a daily basis. As well as pulling boats and utility trailers.
I agree owning a SD like a mini van doesn't make much sense but if they want to they can.
Wow, funny post - and obviously you are baiting, but I'll be dumb and answer anyway. I am probably exactly what you speak of. I've never owned a truck in my life before my 2008 F-250 SD King Ranch with the big diesel. I've always owned higher end German cars... and never needed a truck until now. But now I own a PUT and I didn't want to pull it with my no-cargo-space Audi Q7. Living in Colorado I did want diesel power for the mountains...and I needed space for my three kids in the back of the truck. I did opt for a short bed because I had no use for those extra 15"... I am doing some driving in the city and parking this truck is hard enough without being a long bed. I have exactly what I want and NEED in this truck and am very happy.
Now... I am not a trust fund baby although I am (trying to be modest) a pretty good business person and can obviously afford to buy Ford's top of the line pickuptruck right off the lot.
I see this as a good thing for Ford in general that they are able to make a truck that I like very much. I can get out of my Audi and into the truck and not feel like I've taken an enormous step backwards in terms of comfort and options.
Don't be a hater!!! You should stop to think about why some of us are buying these things. When I have on my muddy boots and haven't showered for three days... and hitch up my trailer - I think I'm pretty far from being a spoiled businessman and pretty close to being just another truck driver at that point.

I would, undoubtedly, be one of those people you hate so much apparently. I drive a Harley-Davidson edition F-250 (crew cab, diesel, short box, 4x4). I dress in "business casual" because the company I work for pays my bills. (It is definitely not how I would dress, if it were up to me.) But, if you saw me at a stop light, you would probably jump to the assumption that I fall into the category that you are stereo-typing folks into.
But, the truth of the matter is that I have worked everything from road construction, home construction, HVAC systems installation, and served eight years in the United States Marine Corps. Following all of that, I went back to college, got a couple degrees, and was fortunate enough to secure a good job that eventually evolved into a senior-level network engineer over one of the larger data networks within the continental United States.
In other words, life has been pretty good to me. Granted, there is still the distinct lack of a wife/girlfriend, but that could change at any given moment. The bottom line is that while I may not use my truck for "work", I have and will continue to work.
Be thankful that I am a participating & contributing American.
Be thankful that I am supporting the same motor company as you.
Be thankful that if we were to be involved in a traffic accident, that I would most assuredly have full coverage insurance.
And be thankful that not everyone judges others by how they dress, how they look, what they drive, how they talk, or any other superficial means.
I guess I don't understand why you would be concerned with what other people drive...it really doesn't matter...I'm sure they have what works for them. My nephew has a short box super cab...says it's a lot easier to manuever than his branny new Western Star with a 45' trailer!!!
I've sold trucks for 25 years...the vast majority of my customers who choose a super cab choose the short bed!!!

Regardless of who drives them, that configuration is quite popular for folks who don't necessarily need the full carry capacity of the long bed or the sheer people carrying capability of a crew cab.
It's is great for the owner who bumper pulls something fairly heavy and (as stated above) enjoys the increased maneuverability the shorter wheelbase offers. It does make a nice business platform as well. It gives a nice appearance to prospective clients and the PSD can offer increased range and efficiency for long haul sales calls and such. Plus, more than likely, there were only PSDs on the lot when the guys went to buy.
I'll agree to a point that the Ex-cab, short bed is the most ... um.... limited working truck configuration but the fact that you see so many shows that you just don't have to work on a construction site to see the value that the Super Duty provides.
Now, about all those posers in diesels... Well...in their defense...it was the only engine on the lot.
All I can say is good for them. I work my butt off to be able to afford my trucks. I would rather work hard to get them. I treat my vehicles better because I have so much time and hard work invested into them. I think if I could turn around and buy a new truck every year I wouldn't take very good care of them.
I drive a crew cab with a short bed, and I'm definitely not a rich guy!! I drive an F-250 for it's tow capacity, not it's payload. I could care less about the bed size. I use my truck to pull my boat, which I keep on a trailer, again because I'm not a rich guy and can't afford to keep it in the water. I prefer the short bed because it's easier to drive and park.
