I have a 87 f150 and I want to swap out the front alxe for a solid axle. So far its got a 4'' lift with 36'' swampers and a beefed up rear end with stronger axles and a locker. and I just wanted any advice as to which axle to swap into the front end.I seen broncograveyard.com has a converstion kit that uses a high pinion dana 44 out of the 70's bronco and f-150s how strong would they be?

The easiest to use is a dana 44 out of a 78-79 F150 or Bronco. There are alot of threads here about the swap. Search for SAS and you should find plenty. Heres one thread- https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/6...?highlight=sas
The ttb is a dana 44 so if you are going through the trouble might as well go all the way and get the biggest axle you can afford. My vote is for portal axle d60's!!
a dana 60 front w/stock rear would leave you with 8 lugs front and 5 back...inconvientient. im doing same thing, but going with sterling 10 1/4 rear and Dana 60 front... that is soon as i find a D60 front...
My plans so far with have been a trail runner with mild rocks and mud. Want to upgade to a solid axle to i can hit a few bigger rocks and more extreme trails.
