Po141 Oxygen sensor ???
I have put new air filter and cleaned the maf with maf cleaner and it went off for the 3 months and about 2000 miles but now it is back on
auto zone test showed too lean code Po141 and recommended an oxygen sensor
I searched on line and everyone said it probably is not the oxygen sensor
I dont want to spend the money if it is not the o2 sensor
The 50.00 is not an issue I just want the problem fixed. I have been told that o2 sensors rarely go bad on there own they usually are caused to go bad by other problems
The motor runs great no noticible problems
I get about 15 miles per gallon ( I have only owned this for about 8 months so I dont know if this is good or not)
Anyway to make a long question longer
any advice or shoud I just replace the 02 sensor and keep my fingers crossed
If the O2 sensor is only 50 bucks, why not replacing it? Then you have eliminated at least one possible cause for the code. Many times resolving these issues requires eliminating one possible cause after another.
And I would say that at 90K miles it wouldn't hurt to change the sensor out, anyway.
Good luck.
and others said look for vacuum leaks
I have done both
I just worrie about replacing the o2 sensor and having it go bad because of other issues. I was also told that they usually dont go bad on their own
most people who had vacuum leaks said theirs ran rough at idle (mine does not)
so I also ruled that out
I am not familiar with what is all involved with these engines and what would cause one to throw that code
but I guess I will just change the 02 and hope it does not happen again
P0171 - System too Lean (Bank 1)
The Adaptive Fuel Strategy continuously monitors fuel delivery hardware. The test fails when the adaptive fuel tables reach a rich calibrated limit.
MAF sensor (contaminated, damaged, malfunctioning, etc.)
Possible causes:
Fuel System
Fuel pressure regulator (leaking, malfunctioning, etc.).
Fuel filter plugged, dirty.
Fuel pump (weak, check valve leaking, etc.).
Leaking/contaminated fuel injectors.
Low fuel pressure or running out of fuel.
EVAP canister purge valve leaking (when canister is "clean").
Fuel supply line restricted.
Fuel rail pressure sensor (incorrect reading).
Air Induction System
Air leaks after the MAF.
Vacuum leaks.
PCV system (leak, valve stuck open, etc.)
Improperly seated engine oil dipstick.
Air induction turbulence due to incorrect air filter.
Exhaust System
Exhaust leaks before or near the HO2Ss (exhaust manifold gasket, mating gaskets, etc.).
EGR System
EGR valve tube/gasket leak
EVR solenoid vacuum leak
Secondary Air Injection
Damaged/malfunctioning secondary air injection system (mechanically stuck valve).
Good Luck!

Clean the MAF and check vacuum leaks. Those should solve the issue. Maybe replace the fuel filter while you're at it. That might also have an effect on setting the code.
Ford Trucks for Ford Truck Enthusiasts
or would that be just if it was a major leak
I have already cleaned the maf and it came back so I will spend some more time looking for leaks
and I will also change the fuel filter
Thanks for the advice
I was able to push it in probably 3/8 of an inch the tubes and elbows look great
I did have a hose that comes out right in front of the throttle bodie that is plastic and raps around into the back of the engine and then goes into a rubber hose about 6 inches long then attaches to a silver tube that was very loose and after i pushed it back together it still feels like it is just hanging there
but thats about all I can see
I put it back together and restarted the engine and the check engine light still on but i dont know if i have to clear it first so I removed the bettery cable and will see if that works
