Trailer Plug
I dont know if this is the same for other super duties. When I plug in my trailer to my truck, I have to leave the key in the ignition in the accesory positon to get any power to the trailer. Is there anyway to rewire the plug so the I can get power to the trailer with out doing that? My dads dodge is like that and I find it alot more convenient. Any ideas?

Are you talking about a power wire for running a light or something in the trailer? The tail lamps and flasher should work with the key off. If you're just looking for a power wire you could trace it and run it to your battery through a fusible link.

They do it that way so you don'tkill the battery with the trailer. Typically that wire is used to charge the trailer batteries, so it would kill the truck when the engine wasn't running.
Without knowing the year of your truck can't tell you which wire. They changed signifigantly year to year.

Check your manual for the trailer tow charge relay. Pull the relay and put a piece of wire between the #30 and #87 terminals. This will make the trailer tow battery wire hot all the time. Be advised that this will allow the trailer to drain your truck battery and may kill them prematurely.

done a similar setup on my older trucks for feeds to winch,lift,etc

Another alternative is to put a small 12V battery in the circuit on your trailer. A gel cell would work well. That way you'd have lights without modifying your truck, plus your truck would chage the battery while you drive.

Definitely make sure it is a deep cycle battery if you do add a battery to the trailer!
