For those interested, I just received and intalled a ScanGuage II on my X. Best feature -- you can now program it to deliver tranny temps!! That alone is worth the $159. Especially when all you have to do is plug into your OBDII port.
I have one as well, the trans temp works great although it's about 10* off from my autometer pod.
They've updated quite a few new codes. You can download the new entries from their website. The only downfall is you have to program them in by hand and it take a few minutes.
Hey sturzinator, how's that thing running on Bio and what rating are you using.. They just opened a 1 million gallon processing plant near here and so it ought to be coming down in price..I can get B-20...I can get it higher if I want custom mixed at delivery, but I need my own tank..
Running great on bio! I run B100 most of the time. Just mixed a 50/50 tank today because it's starting to get cold here and one tank usually lasts me 3-4 weeks depending on how/where I drive.
One more Scan Gauge note. I got mine from MGT who advertises here. His Blend Mount fits the SG directly above teh rear view mirror. Looks great and works great.
$159.95 - free shipping...Fast Delivery...User's manual and code updates available free for updating and programming new codes.
It has a lot of "trip computer" functions that don't appeal to me and seem to take a lot of effort to use. I have the factory trip computer so it wasn't a selling point. Reading codes and access to gauges sold me -- works great so far. Can't wait to tow the TT and see what the tranny temp runs.
I read that 200F is the tranny temp "line in the sand"...go above and pull over to cool down. Any truth to that?
I'm not knocking this product at all - it sounds really good. But for those who may be looking for more, AutoTap + a laptop is also a great option. (www.autotap.com)
It is more expensive - but allows display of hundreds of PCM parameters, codes, etc. I used it recently while towing 3600 miles in 2.5 weeks. 6 different software guages added to my cluster along with several numeric displays and constant DTC scanning really provided me with loads of data.
You can also record streams of data for later analysis - great for those hard to duplicate conditions.
Yes it reads diesel. No boost, but does give manifold pressure in psi. A little math and a reference to the inches of mercury for your location will yeild boost (or close to it). It doesn't update really quick so I still use my pod gauge.
Unfortunately inches of mercury is not only altitude specific (i.e. location) but also weather specific. It can change be several inches in just hours as storms pass through. Is there also a barometric pressure reading? With that, you can get the true ambient pressure and do the math with the manifold psi to get a more accurate boost pressure.
Well that sucks, I bought my SGII in April, according to the website the software upgrade is free if you bought after July '07. It's $25 if you bought before then. You have to send it in either way...that's BS if you ask me.

How long is it warranteed for? Return it, buy a new one, then you are within the date range?
I hate playing "date games" with vendors, but if they make the rules that way, then you can certainly play by them. Is this unethical?
