Any auggestions on an Inatke manifold for my mild 390 ? I read the Edelbrock performer 390 was a dog, the performer rpm would probably be better but is kind of pricey, Weiand or Offenhauser maybe ? possibly the stock cast iron one could be used, its a 1965 casting if that matters.
The performer isn't much better than stock, the weiand has no advantages that I have heard of. Its a single plane, but is a very low rising intake. Which equals less throttle response than the performer RPM and probably less power. I don't know much about the offy's. I would either go and find a 390GT or a 428 CJ intake or spend the cash on the performer rpm.
The RPM is a pricey piece, but you should consider that the FE intake is very large and changing the intake makes more of a difference that probably any other V8 engine just because of how wide the intake is. The Performer 390 is supposed to be a alum version of the 390GT S code intake and not that great of a choice for performance apps.
Look for an old Edelbrock F427. Those things work real well; I wouldn't take the time to install any of the other Edelbrock's unless I was building a low RPM motor for towing.
