428 PI vs. Performer RPM

I have a 1973 F350 SCS, 4-speed New Process, and a 390. I want to replace the stock intake manifold, carb and add headers. I thought the Performer RPM was the way to go until I read that the 428 PI intake was better for a truck towing and running at lower RPM's. Is this correct? I'm referring to the aluminum 428 PI, not the cast one.

You more than likely won't be able to feel the diff. unless clocked on the 1/4 mile. Disadvantage of the stock 428 aluminum PI is that they are expensive and hard to find. Esp. if the seller realizes what he has.

That's good to know. I already have a Performer RPM. Thanks for your help.

Don't forget to block the exhaust crossovers at the head, since the rpm doesn't have them.

Thanks for the heads up, I didn't know that.

Any recommendations on a carb? Everything stock with the possibility of an RV cam and headers.

Holley 600 or 650 would be plenty. I'd advise one with electric choke. Makes life simple. I'm running a 770 street avenger on my 428cj. Idle was basically the only setting I had to adjust. It was perfect out of the box.
