I call this E5OD. This is how it should of been from Fraud.
Notice NO bump/slide/slip shift of the overdrive. All firm and quick. Count the shifts. 97 E-350 with a F-Series Cluster

You have the slip/bump 4th (OD) shift.
I can see it in the tach, and hear the motor rpm fall rise fall during the shift.
That is the problem i was referring to. In my video you will notice my OD does not have this problem. I have installed an interface to fix the TC unlock/lock problem that all E4OD's have during the OD shift.
the link was just to poke fun at you for having a 5 spd, since mine you can count 4 shifts as well.... i never said my shift kit was perfect, but for the cost it definatly lengthend the tranny life. i use stock line pressures, i dont want to raise them electronicly or mechanicly
The problem has nothing to do with the way you modded your VB. Nor can it fix it.
What Iam getting at is as you firm up the OD shiftpoint this TC issue is elevated. Alot is going on during the shift. Timing is important. (4th shift,TC, and coast clutch).
This bump shift makes heat and adds wear to the TC clutch.
This is one of the reasons ford went to PWM. It hides the problem. Besides that it helps keep the TC clutch lining together.
If you manually engauge your OD for the shift you will see that it will not bump shift.

Its a digital control. Does not change line pressures.
Thanks Bill, Is that something that comes with custom tuning for ther PCM (Wildman ect) or something I should be looking into? I'm getting a custom chip this winter when I tear her down.
hello racer-x, i assume you are from the diesel garage right? hopefully we can have normal discussions hear. look foreward to having some.
my take on the digital tc control is that it sounds like an electronic box that would keep the converter either locked or unlocked for the 3-4 shift. it would either hold it locked throughout the shift or lockit after the shift is completed. none of the engaged, then disengaged. i too am interested in seeing what the actual set-up is and where to get it (or build my own...lol) i think it would be easy enough to do. i know that my half to full throttle shifts are fine though, the 3-4 is good and firm without a tc issue, yes, my very light throttle isnt as firm but its not going to kill my trans. i dont buy it. Also, my part throttlr shifts while towing are firmed up, it hits good and firm while towing
Yes C00nhunter from TDG. Have you any theroy on the TCC unlocking?
