I looked around and couldnt see where the oil (since it is brown and oily) is coming from.
Could it be from the power steering? I just changed the oil and put 11 quarts into the truck. Is there some way that is too uch and it is leaking from somewhere...far fetched but I am getting sick of this pickup!!!
2. I also noticed that the serp belt is wearing and there is rubber dust coating everything under the hood. The belt is half off of the tensioner below the vac pump pulley:
3. I noticed that the AC pulley area made some light grinding noise while the truck was running...sounded like someone sharpening a knife on sandstone. Should the end of the AC pulley spin with the pulley or should it idle there with the pulley spinning around it...not a good question but I hope someone could help. Mine spans a rate of about one spin for every ten the pulley does...alll while making that grinding noise.
Any input is welcome. I think the truck is going back to the shop on monday!!!
I hope that you have a diesel by putting in 11 quarts of oil.
The grinding noise sounds to me like the bearings or the clutch is going out on the A/C compressor.
Pull the belt off, check the alignment of all the pulleys, grab all the pulleys and wiggle them to see if they have a lot of play in them, mainly water pump and idler pulley. If they do replace them, if not replace the belt. The belts usually don't slip off the pulley unless something is worn out.
The steering gear shaft seal does tend to leak on these trucks ( mine does ). If your lucky its just the seal and not the shaft. The A/C clutch bearing or clutch (most likely )could be going. Next time you change the serp belt lightly sand all of the pulleys and check the tensioner for a weak spring. Mines a 94 300 F150 and although it can be PITA it is basically a good truck and pretty good design for the DIY.
Good luck

It looks like the A/C clutch is dragging. This can happen if the clearance of the clutch pack is off. There is an adjustment for the clutch packs. Check Steve83s site for lots of info.

If that bearing on your A/C compressor is going bad you will have to change the compressor. check ebay I got one for $140.00, they have cheaper reman. units. Mine ground off the front of the compressor.

I'll give that a try but alot of guys don't think to highly of evilbay...
I just checked the pulley schematic and the dang idiots that had this before me (I just bought it) put the serpentine belt on wrong.....So I wonder if thats putting pressure on stuff that it shouldn't. But its dark so I'll have to tackle that tomorrow.
Evilbay not bad a lot of those places sell NOS (new old stock) Motorcraft stuff at a real good price. I got a cruise control amp & servo NOS for $9.99 that piece is almost $100.00 at the dealer. I got a front license plate holder for $3.25( gotta have those in TX) I'm buying some electric fans for less than $20.00 ea right now.
