Removing guts from Air Pump

I've read where some of you guys that had a noisy air pump just removed the guts from the air pump, greased the bearings, & put it back on to avoid buying new belt, ect.

After doing this did it upset the computer, or anything else negative happen?

That's the whole point, you don't have to buy anything if you gut it out.
My question is does it effect the performance disconnecting the air pump?

some people have smog inspections to deal with, and it's hard to pass the visual when you're missing stuff

No reason I can think of that it would affect anything. . .air pumps are just air pumps, but Fig Newtons are fruit and cake

Your computer doesn't even know the thing works, just the two solenoids is all your computer sees.

we dont have inspections or even emmsions testing on 95 and below here in il . for how big of a headache those darn pumps are, dumpster. also, for the cost invloved, my time is worth more than spending an hour gutting a pos when i could bolt on a new part and be down the road
