I pulled my carb off my beast today...the spacer that the PCV goes to in the rear is plastic/bakelite...is that original or were the originals aluminum ??? Its a stock 352 2bbl ...
My 360 had a spacer under it that the heater hoses went through to help warm it up quicker. Needless to say that stuff is all gone now. I am almost positive that one was metal.
All my cars, except the Cougar, have one of Fords 1" thick aluminum spacers under the carb. The Cougar has a very narrow spacer, straight from Ford in 1974, for use on medium rise manifolds in order to clear the hood. These do have a pcv fitting that starts round and narrows to a flute shape as used on a sax. I happen to have one of those spacers you are talking about that look like brown plastic/bakelite from a carb purchase on eBay. Will be finally getting rid of my '74 manifold with the egr outlet under the spacer and switch to a '67 390 2bbl manifold. The spacer used will be the aluminum one as clearance is not an issue and that keeps the carb farther away from heat.
anyone....I cant even find a part number for it and the illustration I see in my book is totally different to what I have seen on every truck Ive seen.
The spacers that came under the carb were for heat to the carb. It has a inlet and outlet with the heater hose connected. Many of those have been deleted over the years.
The engine needs to have the pcv working, so unless you have a carb with that port on it you may want to leave it. I had problems with my truck not starting after it had gotten hot and a 1" phenolic spacer resolved those issues.

Thanks Bill, I did leave it on...it has the feed for the PCV valve only...I was wondeering if the plastic one was an OE piece or if an aluminum one would be more likely ...the spacer is about 1/2 -5/8" thick...
I found the part basic number, but couldnt find the rest of it at all...weird I thought...thanks for the help Bill...
