Peel Out... Anyone?

OK, I just traded my 07 GT Mustang 5sp(4.6/3.55 axle) with SCT/93 Race BamaCips tune and JLT CAI w/ Flowmasters, which had the same hp, 300, as my new FX4(5.4/3.73 axle). So far I added dual Mangnaflows and a ROUSH CAI. Performance comparisons between the two are night and day. Sure, I understand everything about tunes, torque(actually the F150 has more), throttle lag, power to weight ratio, flywheel HP vs. RWHP, etc, etc,etc... But, you'd think that this truck could peel out on heavy acceleration... nada! I'm sure the 20" OEM wheels may have a little to do with it, but still... It's as though it has traction contol. I will be going with a SCT/BamaChips set-up in the near future. I was wondering whether this is common? Can anyone out there peel out, in a streight line, with their stock F150? Thanks

No, the torque convertor has a low stall to take advantage of the low RPM torque.

The problem is the stock tune and torque reduction built into it. Its simply not going to let you put all of it to the ground enough to burn them well. Get a tuner!

FTE Ken can, But not what you would consider a stock truck though.

I can, but only for about 5 feet. also, your transmission learns your driving style. if you drive it hard, it shifts harder and you get a little bit more performance

I feel your night and day. in my sig picture, you can see my daily driver and the family truck.

I've probably done 50 or better posi after using the brakes to line lock it. The posi in the rain is lots of fun pulling out from a stop.

thank god it doesn't let ya peel out...lets remember they're trucks with light rear ends and peeling out around corners can have bad results for inexperienced drivers...plus...if you had to buy tires yet for your truck...you'd appriciate the fact that it won't let you burn them off at will....

You are right. I'm 47 I should know better. I hardly ever play around, any more, and only in empty parking lots or back roads with no traffic. I do love a little bit of snow in an empty parking lot. The posi makes it fun. One tire on my truck costs more than my first car.

Isn't that rediculous.....exactly why did a 235/75/15 tire for my stock 95 cost like 90 bucks for a bfg all terrain.... and the 285/65/18 cost 255? there is not 3 times the material......

My little 4.6 cant burn them at all wet or dry. It will brake loose on sertain slick type roads and some wet roads but its about like tylus its not much. and its definatly no burn.

By the way, I've never spun my good tires on dry pavement. I abused the stock tires some. I think I paid about $210 mounted and balanced for my 285/75/17 mudders.

Just a little. It sucks. Nothing close to burining them, just a scratch.

Not like I'd want to do it all the time, but my 77 with a 302 can do it if need be.
Even my 79 bronco can do it with 36" rubber(only a one time deal, those tires were just about as expensive as they are for these trucks).

i dk how u got 235/75-15 BFG all terrains for $90 i work at a tire shop and we buy those from our supplier for like 130 sumthing. and also the load rating for the f150 tires is probibly higher than your 235/75-15 so that factors into the cost. Tire prices are kinda funny.

I think tire prices are priced on how popular a certain size tire is. My daughters Mazda has low pro Goodyears on it. Last week she came home with half a sheet rock blade stuck in it, and Dis***** Tire wouldnt repair it. (Didnt want them to anyhow). A new tire is $210 + tax, stem, warranty, old tire, etc. This isnt much different than what I paid for a new 17" BFG for my truck. Prob could have made 3 of her tires for the material that was in mine. And certainly much easier to manufacture.
