1996 300L6 rough accelleration
I have a 1996 F-150 300 ci with manual transmission. Upon light accelleration, any gear, the motor runs very rough. Seems to idle fine, and rarely gets very rough running when accellerating hard. I thought maybe the fuel filter, replaced it today. Then I thought fuel pump, (been running on front tank for quite a while), put gas in rear tank and still have same problem. No check engine light, so I am told its not an ignition problem, although, plugs and wires have about 50,000 on them. What other things should I be looking at?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I was reading some other posts concerning wires. (mine only have about 50,000 on them, and they are top end wires. Some people mentioned "induction crossfire" on 302s. Nothing was mentioned about 300s, but I'm assuming induction crossfire can happen between plug wires on any motor?? Does this mean the wires are bad, or can this happen at any time plug wires cross over each other? I looked at my plug wires, and about 4 of them cross over one another.
I just untangled some ofthem before driving about a mile and back to the store, and noticed the motor only skipped once, instead of like "the asthmatic jackass" (as described in another post) bucking it had been doing.
