auto tranny issue?
I have a 97 psd with 242k and tranny rebuilt at 227k,,,,,I have owned this truck for 3 months. I have noticed if I let the truck sit for a couple of days when I start it and put it in reverse to take off its like the clutches are slipping,,high rpms and very little movement. After about 30 seconds it drives fine with no slipping that I can notice. Does anybody have any ideas?

It is the torque convertor draining down. I can live with this, but Should I be concerned? Will the convertor completely fail in the not so distant future? Would you recommend a convertor swap out quickly?

It does sound like drain back though the issue isn't actually in the TC itself. I beleive the anti-drain back device is a fitting on one of the cooler lines. take the line off, remvoe the fitting install the new one and put everything else back together. As long as you let the truck idle for a bit or even rev in park a bit you probably won't hurt the TC but I am no expert in trannies.
