As for only two U.S. vessels, that is not the norm.
The rest of the U.S. vessels, that normally participate in Fleet Week, are
deployed in the Middle East.
Watching a flat top steam under the Golden Gate Bridge is a site to see.
it is close enough, how you find out? i use to have a link, but googled and can not seem to find listings.
i would drive about 4-5 hourse to see one, i really just want to show my wife the planes and walk in and out of them, i was stationed at an airbase for a year, i seen plenty.
I was an air traffic controller in a former life, and my first station was El Centro, Ca- the winter home of the Blue Angels. I thoroughly enjoyed my time there.
As far as fleet week in San Fran, I am surprised they still allow it at all, considering the obvious way they feel about the military.
is there a listing for airshows that do not have the blue angles?
i am more interested in crawling around a c5, or a kc135. show my wife some stuff, and the jets flying would be cool also, but i would take anything, its getting the end of the season, but i would think the south may have some going all year?

Check out www.aviationnation.org it is the big airshow in Las Vegas on Nov. 10th-11th and is free to the public. This year is celebrating the 60th anniversary of the Airforce. Nelis AFB is also the home of the Thunderbirds. This is going to be a great airshow. I am planning to take the 7.5 hr drive from Co. to see it, it will be worth the trip.
Fleet week is one of the things that I might admit to missing about Ca. The Blue Angels always put on a tremendous show, they were here in Grand Junction 2 summers ago. Anytime I get to see military jets, it makes my chest pop out a little further because I am an American. F-15's and F-18's are a regular sight and sound here in G.J., it is a stop over point for them.

Just because some (they) oppose the military doesn't mean that everyone opposes the military.
