I also have a 2000 f150 XLT without keyless.I have wondered if you can add the factory RAP module and then all you would need is a remote and programming?? Any one done this??
Your trucks may be equipped with the keyless entry feature. To find out, follow this procedure for programming the key fob transmitters.
Place the key in the ignition and turn from LOCK to OFF. Then cycle between OFF and ON eight times in rapid succession (within 10 seconds) with the eighth turn ending in the ON position. The doors will lock/unlock to confirm that programming mode has been entered.
If you do this and the truck responds, then the truck is equipped with keyless entry and all you will need to do is to purchase some key fob transmitters and program them according to the instructions in your owners manual. If you need an owners manual, you can download one here. Good luck!
Thanks John,
I saw you post earlier and tried the on/off procedure
and nothing happened. I had replaced a FOB on
my 95 Ranger with that procedure. The add on
is my only option.

I had keyless added to my 99 F150 the day after I bought it last year. I had the windows tinted and the alarm installed at the same time. it cost me $25.00 extra per door for the keyless feature.
I looked at a service manual, and it appears to be a small black box located behind the driverside kick panel. I am going junk'n soon so I 'll give it a try and report back.
O.K. I found the RAP module above the brake pedal. It is a white box that says remote/keyless/anti-theft. I know I have the right box, but know I do not see the connectrs on my harness to plug in. I am heading back to the junkyard in the morning to see if where they lead. I'll check back in as soon as I know what's going on.
I went to the junkyard and found where the factory harness for the RAP module comes out at. It appears that my factory harness does not have the plugs?? Does not make sense that Ford would make an XLT harness for remote entry and an XLT harness without remote entry. Does anyone have the wiring diagrams for a 2000 f150 so we can check that??
I have a 2001 XLT (bought new) that came with the remote entry. I added the Ford "Gold" remote start / security system, and I can tell you that there were three different methods of hooking it up. That is, while it doesn't make sense, they definitely do use different wiring and modules.
I assume that you want the OEM look, which is what I wanted without multiple remotes, but it will be much easier to get aftermarket equipment.
Looked under the dash, I don't see what you describe
I do see two unused gray male plugs, one is directly
under the "Hood" pull. They both are about 1" x 1/2" and this one has
two prongs. The other is to the right (behind what I think
is where the shop computer connects, its black) and
its an unused five prong male connector. What are they for?
