Oh Jim, you haven't seen my back yard have you? I think ya'll should move closer to me.
Hey Jim, I wasn't thinking that anyone make a special trip. I just know how folks will travel this way from time to time, and thought if someone was heading this way, they could pic'em'up. I know full well that the drive would not justify the reward, unless you wanted to get in some fishing before the season ends.
If I head that way for some strange reason, I'll sure pack them with me. That is if I take my truck anyhow. I was hoping to go to Sacramento for that off road race that RacerChick was talking about but I couldn't talk the wife into another adventure this late in the year. Oh well...
He aint lived in Markleeville, has he Dan?
I gotta get out your way one of these days Dan, to check on Thumperoo. Might even bring my guitfiddle along too.
Speaking of guitfiddles, Dan, I'm sending you a PM.
Well, I doubt anyone (besides me) would want to move to Fresno on purpose. 100+ in the summer 40+ in the winter. However, compared to So Cal, I would take it in a heartbeat. I have been to Clearlake, and that is beautiful country. I am sure the area by Tahoe is good too. Never been there. Maybe I should move more north. Like Madera.
Just had an impossible thought. (Hey any thought from me is impossible!) I have this 460/C6 trans just sitting here waiting for a new home. My brother has this '87 Ranger waiting for a new home.... I could drop the 460 in the Ranger, and then tell California that it is a prototype and Ford only made one. So I need an exemption. Or maybe tell them it is an ongoing tire test to see how long they last under that light rear end. Or put the Dana 70 back there after Mike does his famous axle shortening trick on it.
Well, I had an interesting day off. Went to the DMV to get a junk slip for the beast so the junkyard would tow it away, and because the truck was not registered to me, I would need to pay registration, and title fees up until June of 2008 in order for them to issue the slip. That would cost $117. The junkyard (Pick-N-Pull) will only pay $106. So I would be out $11. (Pick-A-Part would only give me $80!)
However, they did tell me because I have a lien sale packet, they junkyard would take that. So I went down to the junkyard, and found out that because it is not in my name, they will not buy the truck from me. They will however, buy it from my neighbor, whose name it is in. So, I will take him down there next Monday and get rid of the beast.
I did get some potentially good news from the DMV while I was there. My brother wrote me and gave me the license number of the Ranger and I had them check their system and the lady told me that it is not in the system anymore. She says after 3-4 years if the registration has not been kept up it is dropped from the system, and it starts over. In order for me to register it I would need to take in to get inspected. So, that means I don't have to worry about all the back fees or penalties. However, she did say it would be better if I had the VIN so she could make sure it was not in the system.
I am hoping to get it in Novemebr or December, however, if that is not possible, I may have to wait until February or March of next year.
I found out from the Police that CPS would not have held the kids more than a day even if they had come out to pick them up. I asked them if charges had been filed, and they told me it woudl be up to the Fire Dept investigators. I placed a call over there, and was told the investigator who took the report would give me a call back.
I let the manager know the truck would not be out of here until next Monday and she said that was ok. She also told me the parents of the kids are fighting the eviction. Claiming they never got the eviction notice. I told her that is probably a good thing because I wouldn't be able to file the lawsuit until next payday as it costs money to file, and to hire a process server to give them the notice. This way they will still be living here when I file, and the process server will have no problem finding them.

Sorry, but something else to make this into an adventure - - -
Will the insurance company pay you? How about the court, will they reconize that you have standing to sue? If there is a money award, will it go to you?
This family sounds like a bunch of low lifes. I've had to sue this type of person before and even if you win in court, there is no economical way to get any money out of them. Jim, unless you're just in it for the revenge factor, I'm afraid you're just throwning good money after bad. Jag
