Truck is still here. manager has not said anything but if she asks, I'll tell her it will be gone this upcoming weekend, one way or another.

Hey Jim, just to keep things clear, I'm just providng a space for AJ to yank out the engine/tranny and assist in getting rid of the reast.

As far as logistics go, AJ and yourself have to get that worked out.

Hopefully you guys will, and get it taken care of for ya!

Well, no response from Clint on tow dolly. Maybe his email is not working as well.

I do not have a way or money to tow your truck to Mike's. Apparently, there was a misunderstanding there between Mike and myself. So, it's probably best that you just have a junkyard pick it up to get it out of your way at this point.

Fortunately, I have been asked to interview this week for a couple of jobs. That will keep me close to home as the interviewer will notify me tomorrow when I need to go to the Bay Area and interview. So, this week is for studying, and job search for me.
I really do not have any more time to work on this. I might be starting a new job next week if all goes well. I do have to be prepared for this interview and have a lot to do between now and then. If this was just a couple more hours of work..... no problem.
However, it means many hours to tow it and then many hours to take it apart that I do not have. It was made it sound so easy.... if it had been done by now.... we'd be OK.

Not to mention I have a motorhome that is still in the shop that I have to get it out of an up to Sacramento. I hope this week. If not, I may find myself in a real jamb next week.

Sorry there is just not enough time for me to take this on right now.

Best of luck - AJ

AJ, if you needed a hand to go get it, no problem if I'm available...but I didn't want to be the one arranging times/etc.

Let's wait till we see if Clint responds before you give up just yet. I'm 99% sure he'd let us use his dolly, as when he first got it, he said it was open for chapter use to anyone who needed it.

I'll send him an email as well...may he just don't like you

Also, no issues to let it sit here until you get time to get what you want...in fact I'd probably have the engine and tranny out waiting for you

Now, just thinking further ahead...I'd not have an issue towing it on a dolly with Aleshias pickup.

What I'm thinking is this...

If we get ahold of Clint and get his dolly, maybe Jim can leave the keys and title to the truck with his manager and a note stating I'll come and get it...what I could do is run to Clints, get the dolly...than head over to Jims and pull the truck out, swap the front wheels if needed...between the 12v winch I have and a come-a-long or two, I should be able to get it loaded and down here.

Two guys would be better, but I've done worse by myself with less tools.

Once I get an interview time I can schedule around that. I was promised a time/interview today and was told to be ready. However, the manager isn't in most Mondays I was told late today after waiting all day for the interview ..... So, they are going for tomorrow or the next day and it has to be at his convenience.

We'll just have to see how it goes..... As soon as I hear about the interview I can give you a better idea of my timing.

If we do this we just want to make sure we have the ownership cert from Jim and a Bill of sale for the wrecking yard ... right?

Yes, we'll need the Title to take it to a wrecking yard or have it towed off.

Also, I recall an old post where Clint mentioned he was going to pull the project truck using a Towbar he had...might be another option if he responds...I'd prefer a dolly though.

I have a bill of sale, I will need to go to the DMV to get a junk title though, Wendell never got the smog done on this thing, so the DMV never gave him the title or the registration even though he paid for it. If I have to, I will take him with me to the DMV when I go to get the junk title. I will also take them some pictures of what is left of it in case they ask. I don't know if you will need a title though, when I called junkyards down here, they told me because the engine and transmission were still in it they would need a title. So I would assume once the engine and transmission are out of it, you will not need one. It would save $10 and a trip to the DMV if you don't.

I will measure the fender and ramp width on the dolly in the morning. But Dan Addy's 2002 F150 was too wide for the dolly.

Also, the truck and camper is too heavy for my dolly - can you dump the camper in the apartments trash?

I have used a tow bar many times. and the tow vehicle needs to be heavier than the truck being towed. The problem is that you can not go slow - at any time you are under 25 MPH the truck will steer itself, like a little dog with a big tail.

I might try it with my van and hold it to 45-50 mph. Any faster it will get to whipping, any slower and the truck will try to steer itself, following ruts in the road.

In any case, I wouldn't try to move it with the camper on. If you take some power saws and have electricty available it does not take long to cut up one of those old campers. Perhaps we could just dump it off in the parking lot and let Jim cut it up.

Looks like the best bet would be a trailer then.

This is my dolly - - - and yes, if you can find a trailer it would be best, or try the towbar.

We had this same problem with a F250 4wd we wanted for the project truck.

Mike, you ever think of just building a simple dolly big enough to hold a 3/4 ton? Set the wheels 8 1/2 feet apart, and make the ramp extend in several feet.

It need not swivel if you tie the truck such that the front wheels can move a bit.

I think mine is over-built with a lot of extra features that sound good but are a dog to use.

I see...you're axle is the weak point...I'd guess we could squeeze it through...but it'd be tight wih not much room to play.

I'd be glad to build one for someone else

If I had a dolly or a trailer, I'd still wind up with extra "projects".

I'm not making or buying anything for myself to haul a vehicle on (unless the deal is just too good to pass up) until I thin out some junk out back and get rid of a few more rollers.

It's best I don't have quick and easy access to a car hauler

Just a thought Clint, but if we could find a 5000lb or heavier axle for yours, we could modify it and extend the ramps.

Ya know, I'll have to look out back at the 3/4ton rearend I have, we could use the hubs...oh, we could also use the hubs from the housing I left at Dans from the Dodge MH...as long as things aren't tapered, we can chop off the ends of the housing where the hubs go in and make an axle as wide as we'd want.
