ok cool, i would hope all digi clusters can be switched between the US and metric settings...also wish someone who could help me with this project was in my area of the states oh well...good luck and keep us updated on the swap im really contemplating this...

Ok, I've done a bit of online research and this is what I have found as far as F-150 & Windstar sending units and VSS signals go.
F150
Temperature sender: single wire
Oil Switch = single wire
Fuel sending unit ohm range = 145 full & 22.5 empty
VSS (96-05) = 8000 PPM
Windstar
Temperature sender = 2 wire
Oil switch = single wire
Fuel sending unit ohm range = 160 full & 16 empty
VSS (95-98) = 8000 PPM
(99) = 18000
(00-05) = 28960 PPM
It seems like the best donors will be any Windstar that is no newer than 1998. If this is going to be anything like my Cougar swap in the Explorer, you will have to use a 2 wire temperature sender and ground one of the wires.
The fuel gauge will probably need a resistor in line to get the ohm range right when reading empty and will more than likely never read full, but rather 3/4 full for a really long time.
For options like fuel flow and such, I wonder if it will be as simple as adding a few wires to the PCM harness like I did with the Explorer? I will have to look into that later.
If anyone has info contrary to what I have posted please chime in an let us know.
Cheers

Digital Gauge Display
I'm new to this idea so excuse me if this is a dumb question but out of the two swaps you ended up doing which was the best fit, or are they the same cluster?
I have a 94 f150 flareside I am wanting to put a digital cluster in but I have no idea where to begin any thoughts on what might be a good pairing?

This is some crazy, meta stuff right here. Lol. 16 years ago i was the one that figured out that the 80s to 93 cougar dashes could be swapped into my 84 crown Victoria. After I figured out how to get all the sensors swapped and signals from the car. I started to see if I could do it in my ranger. I figured that all out and did Wright ups on how to do it and posted it on forums. I can believe folks are still doing these swaps and using that info. Lol.
Now I'm here with a 93 bronco that I'm putting an 08 dash in and trying to get a good looking cluster in it since I can't make the 08 cluster work in my truck. So I was going back to my roots and trying to get a cougar cluster to work on my 93 bronco.
I know how to get all the signals by switching sensors out for the gauges. The only signal I have to find is the fuel flow. Dis anyone ever find out if we have it on the f series trucks? 90% of the for ecm's have it on pin #34. But most pin out diagrams have it listed as not used. Some of the vans had it on pin #31 labeled the same way. Pin #34 is labled not used on my diagrams for the 93 f 150 and bronco just like all the rest. But Im hoping some one else out there has by chance tried this pin, or knows where it is. Before I do it myself and possibly toast a cluster.
I know I'm double bringing up a dead thread. But this is the only one I've been able to find of someone trying this kind of swap on an f 150 platform. But no one has said weather they've located the fuel flow signal or where it is.. Thanks for any help.

Anyway, I have been looking into the DCL data stream that most ECU's from 92 on have. Check this site out: https://github.com/babroval/ford-eec-iv-diagnostic to try to design a display.
I have not tried that yet but I have been messing around with Arduino Nano and have made a successful temperature gauge using a ECU coolant sensor. I am going to build up my own digital instrument cluster using Arduino's driving LED 7 segment displays. Next thing is a MPG gauge and here is a link for it: https://ecomodder.com/wiki/MPGuino
The only thing I fear about using a old florescent display cluster is it will fade out. On my 85 Plymouth Caravelle car the digital display has gone dark and I tried to boost up the voltage of the display only to get a few more months out of it. And every cluster I got from the yards all have the same issues hence looking into designing a cluster display using High Power LED displays.

Thanks for the reply. I was planning on getting the ecu from my done car jist in case. I'll have to research where the cougar ecu's get the injector pulse from. I know the mini vans have a sensor that goes in the fuel line and somehow calculates the pulse count.
Im trying to stay away from the the phone or tablet style LCD screens. They're always to bright for me. Even dimmed all the way down. Could do the arduinio and led Combo to make a gauge. But it will probably be a lot easier just to get the cougar one working and just ignore the fuel economy till I can figure out a way to get it the fuel flow signal.
But once I get a cluster I'll just have to see if I can find the right pin. If we have one. It would just be weird that all the other cars have one.
