Fuel filter wire thingy
I changed my fuel filter and was looking in where the filter came out. At the bottom of the resevoir is a 1/2 circular wire. Looks like part of a springy clip about as round as the filter. I could wiggle it around a bit and was tempted to pull it out but feared I would break something.
Question: Any idea what it is? Should it be 1/2 circle or is it broken?
could this be am MPG problem?

I believe you are talking about the fuel heater element. Don't mess with that if that is what you are talking about. The next thing you know you will blow a fuse that will give you fits with the truck.

Like Mike warned, if that thing breaks and short circuits, it'll likely blow the fuse of the circuit it's on... which also protects the PCM relay.
