well wthe stuff that has been going on latley, i have been contimplating getting rid of the truck for a more economical vehicle...i dont even use the truck for a truck at all...i bought it with intentions to use it to deliver countertops and such but it turns out my dads dually and the box truck get used instead of mine ... any ways, with the recent eye opener, i have been thinking about it and it seems to be the better choice...ya i will miss the large truck, but i have been driving my fiances 07 g6 and man i put 40 bucks in it in the past 8 days compared to my normal 100 a week with my truck...im just tossing up the ideas, but there are a couple things holding me back...1.) I LOVE MY TRUCK!!! (but i could always get a bigger better one further down the line right, besides the 5.4 is starting to ware on my last nerve lol) 2.) i dont know what i could get out of it...can some one give me a realistic number becasue i know i will be upsiode down, but i would be willing to get it to even with cash outta my pocket....here are my specs on my truck
2006 f250 5.4 SC LB, fX4 3.73LS Sport package, factory anti theft, rear sliding window, privacy glass, bed liner, automatic tranny 31000 miles, snow plow package running boards, leather steering wheel fog lights, rook lights, tow mirrors, tonnaue cover (however you spell it) new 08 mirrors with power fold (i know itll only help if i sell it private)
i think thats about it...thanks in advance for the help..!!!...
o, i would probably be getting a small car that gets good mpg and a much lower payment...but i plan on staying with ford
ill be the first to admit, im 22 and made a stupid decusion on buying NEW truck...yes i can afford a 550 a month payment and 100 bucks a week plus insurnace, but itll make it alot easier to get on my own when saving alot of that money...the truck for me right now is a luxory and soon its going to me a huge burden...i can double my payments and have it payed off in no time but i dont think thatll be very benificial at my age and situation
well, at least your smart enough to know you made a mistake. if i didn't need my truck for work, i would never spend this kind of money on the purchase price, maintenance, and fuel. why limit yourself to only a ford car? for fuel mileage and build quality look at what toyota and honda have to offer (i know, i know).
first i need to see how deep im going to be upside down...not only did i make the mistake of buying the truck too fast, and too soon, but i also made the mistake of extending the loan for a little to long...at first i had all intentions of keeping this truck a long time but then i realized that a long time is actually a LONG time!!!
CounterMaker, I wish I had been as smart as you when I was 22. It took me a bunch of years to get to thinking like that. When I look back on all the interest I paid (and couldn't afford) it really gets to me. Luckily I did change my ways before it was too late. The last few vehicles I have bought, and I now have 4 Ford trucks, I have paid cash for them. I buy new and used and drive them as long as I can and it pays off.
Get rid of that payment, save what you can and when finances are better, buy what you want. The bankers won't like you but why buy their toys for them? That's what you're doing.
i was chacking out some used honda civic hybrids on ebay...just looking at prices and dam, i can cut my payment in half and get 5x the mpg im getting now...because i still want the reliability of a semi new vehicel...i dont wanna buy a 1989 geo metro and be stuck with a car that im just dumping money into...althoughh that 3 cylnder geo does get pretty good mog...lol...6 months ago i was telling everyone that mpg meant nothing to me and now look at me im all grown up!! lol
either keep it and pay it off or buy something used that you can pay cash for or pay off in short time....you dont need a payment if your planning on saving money! heck you could buy an f150 with a 300-6 for less than 10 grand that gets 16-18 mpg and drive it to 300k, or even an OBS stroker for a few grand more
Take your SD down to the local Ford dealer, trade her in and cut a deal on a 2-3 year old Escape. You'll still have a Ford, 4 wheel drive and you won't be driving a minivan or a Honda.
I would guess Kelly Blue Book could get you pretty close on a value. As far as for a new vehicle, if you need 4wd, I would maybe look at an escape before a ranger, but that's just me. Escapes get better MPG than a ranger, and you still have all the 4wd of a SUV, but ride and have the intior room of a car. Also there are other, small SUV/Cross overs out there from other manufactures.
