2000 Explorer needs new Tires Any Advice???

Hey All,

I'm running Goodyear Fortera Silent Armors right now... Thinking of getting the Fortera Triple Tread...

Any suggestions???

Other Tires im looking at are the Dueler At Revo and the Toyo At Open country...

Amazingly i can get the goodyears cheaper then the Duelers and the Toyo's are even cheaper, now price is not that important but it is a factor....

My past trucks have had the winter duelers (GREAT TIRE) and BF All terrian KO on my ranger...

What are you running and how do you like them???

Thanks

All of those would be great tires, I would go with the Goodyears personally. They may not be the best bang for the buck, but they are on the top end of performance and durability cost aside. If you can get them cheaper, thats like frosting on the cake.

If you are looking for winter tires, you may want to consider a designated winter tire as opposed to an all season tire. Go for H&T rated winter tires, as opposed to M&S.

How many miles you get with the Goodyears. I run Mich. and get around 80k-90k

I think that for a recommendation we also need to know what type of climate and driving you do with your truck. Here in Wester NY where we can get a good bit of snow I have found the Bridgestone Dueler Revo ATs to be absolutely fantastic.

the goodyears on her now from what i can tell have 40k with a blow out from low air pressure...

I live in TOronto so we get some snow and I go up north a bit in the winter....

Im leaniing on the Duelers as well... also i noticed that the goodyear wrangler is more of a comparison to the at revo....

Next thing how much more in gas will is be to run the AT vs HT???

cheers and thanks

I really don't think you notice any difference at all. It would be such a minute change that it would be almost impossible to reproduce.

I am running BFG All Terrain TA/KO LT23575R15 on my 2000 explorer and have good luck with them. I only have 10000 miles on these so far. Great ride too!!

After owning 3 Explorers ('91, '95 & '99) and buying tires for all of them. There is only one tire I would buy assuming that you use your Explorer as it was intended. That is, mostly as a daily driver/grocery getter with occasional 4WD situations - eg- skiing/snow, undeveloped roads, etc. That tire is the Michelin LTX M/S. Does pretty well in all conditions, is relatively quiet and lasts an incredible amount of time. All tires are compromises (unless the vehicle is only used for one purpose) and the Michelin LTX M/S is the best compromise. You can take that to the bank.
