solenoid/flywheel?
As far as I know all V-8 Ford starters have the solenoid on the fenderwell. I think what some of the guys are trying to describe is the starter bendix. Which is inside of the starter. Sometimes you can get by with just changing the bendix, but with a used/rebuilt starter being only about $20 why bother?.
