I have 1987 F250 2WD with an AOD trans. The problem that I am having is this. When I am in drive or Overdrive from a stop as I accelerate passed 15 MPH it seems as if it goes into nuetral, and the engine just revs. It won't shift to the next gear. If I let it drop back down below 15 MPH it will pull forward again as if back in gear. This trans is only 2 years old after a rebuild. I have changed the fluid and the filter with no change in operation. Any and all help would be appreciated.
Rebuilt by who 2 years ago?? A hamburger flipper or a real rebuilder?? I would guess that is was a crappy rebuild or crappy torque conveter if you are slipping out of gear like that.
Sounds to me like they didn't replace some of the rings inside, they just bent the to take up the space.
Which is a bad fix, cause stuff like that happens. One of those, do it to get by tricks. but for some reason Tranny repair people seem to think this is okay practice for a customer!!!!
If your slipping, something is not engageing obviously. So some clutches are not working right, or your oil pressure is low.
Could be one of those valve dealies not letting fluid to where it needs to go. or there could be dirt in there.
It is an 87 though. All the ones with the OD switch on the dash had problems shifting and many other things.
I would go ask over in the tranny forum instead of here though.
They are the tranny guys.
were just general question morons.
The AOD is completely dependant on the TV cable for proper line pressure. This cable connects to the throttlebody linkage with an adjustment mechanism. If this mechanism has become disconnected or broke the tranny will not build enough pressure to shift properly. Pull the plastic cover off the top of the TB and verify the TV cable is connected and operating properly.
Yes it is. And that is funny Skandocious.By the way You arent too far from me, I live down in Lincoln. I'll check that cable conanski. If that aint it I guess it goes to the tranny shop on thursday.
