Ok i have a 93 Bronco. 5.8 auto 194,000 miles (ex highway patrol) New fuel pump and filter. new cap rotor plug wires (plugs seemed to have been replaced) It drops to about 500 rpms when coming to a stop tries to stall it seems like, the problems i know are that #1 cyl is not firing corectly it seems as if the plug might not be firing (bought a new plug havent been able to get to the truck yet) and #8 plug has some build up on it, it burns a little oil my guess is #8 valve seals.
But back to the original question what could be causing it to drop to such low rpms? it so far hasnt stalled but i dont need it to stall and not start when im hours away from my house. i was thinking fuel pressure regulater but it is a somewhat expensive part to just throw on. I read somewhere that if you pull the vac line on it and there is gas present that it is bad, i did that test and there was no gas... any help would be awsome
Let me see if I understand the question.
You got low rpm's at idle, and you know #1 cylinder is not firing correctly, and #8 cylinder is oil fouled, and you want to know WHY it idles low??
Maybe because #1 cylinder is not firing correctly and #8 cylinder is oil fouled?
Do I win a prize???
