I have a question/Idea.
First I have to ask Ken.
Is it possible for us to set up some sort of slush fund
where if any of our fellow members gets into a monetary bind, we as members can pull from a fund to help. Would we have to go through this site, or can we do it on our own?
So what does everybody else think of this idea?
Need input.
count me in too!! we had something like that at a place i used to work, evryone kicked in a buck a week from there pay and if ya fell on hard times due to sickness, death in the family, ect they would dish out some $$ to help out. very good idea. but i would make it that it was for folks that have been here awhile tho
It can be as simple as $10.00 a year for everyone that signs up. There would be a set payout limit. Depending on how many people signed on. A percentage if you will.
Simpicity in it's finest.
it may create problems .. i mean who says what goes to who ? do you have to be a subscribing member to benefit.. is one persons case worse than another?WHat is someone here needs help and they arent well liked and others dont want to contribute to this persons cause? i figure if someone here is on hard times and its mentioned in the forum it should be up to each individual person here to send what they want if they want... there may also be tax and other liability issues for Ken and the owners here

i cant see that being a problem if they can do that on here for our men in irag!im in for 10.00
i think it would be easier to make some sort of a representation from the owner of this site, along with supporters of a paticular problem, to an already establish charity group and petition on that person's behalf.
sounds good, but sometimes things can back fire when taking something out of the scope of the operation. plus i have not a clue on legalities of things like that.

There is nothing to say you cannot help a fellow FTE er. It just becomes an insurance policy for everyone that contributes. Then there is a set monetary payout.
i dont honestly see this going anywhere, but if it did, i would contribute.
I worked in a school dist. for many years, and this is how we handled all the collections that seemed to pop up everyday. We were more than willing to help, but not at the mercy of some panhandler on a daily basis.
Heh, It's just food for thought....
Hhhmm,,, I think this is one of those things that looks good on paper, but just never quite works out. I think if we want to send a member funds, when they are in times of need, then we simply send them some funds, like when Tricky needed a hand. Some of us were able to help out and I can see that it made a huge difference in his life, as it would others as well.
we'd need a few people (checks and balances) incharge of it,
When someone needs some cash, the members who belong (those who donatte) could vote on who gets what
