when i rev my engine it is smooth as silk up to about 3000 rpm then it will miss a bit, then is smoth again above 3000 rpm up till it redlines. it will also miss sometimes after it sits for a while (while im at work) but smoothes out after i get going. whatda yall think? injector o rings? i might try to take a video and post it if i can get the missing sound to pickup well enough.
well heres the vid if it works. not shure if yall will be able to hear the miss or not on the vid. when i listened to it on my laptop was hard to detect. the actual sound of the engine running kinda covers up the miss on the vid. the truck had been setting for a few hours. the miss is more thru the entire rpm range, first time ive noticed it doing it thru the whole rpm range most of the time its like i described earlier.
nope sorry it did work, i hear it at idle the idle sounds a little off but the missing through the rpm sounds like an o-ring issue, you may have a dying injector from the idle or it could be from your 10k, how is yours wired and is it installed for the video?
the 10k is in for the video. its installed your way. im pretty shure the lope at idle is from the 10k. im gonna go remove it and drive the truck tommrow and see what happens. may be time for some DIY stage 1's .... if i end up pulling the injectors for o rings might as well
hmm, very rarely does mine lope, and definatly not like that, if mine does develop an "off" idle it goes away if you touch the go pedal then let it return to idle
k lets say the o rings are shot?... how long do i have to save up for either new rings or stage 1's. is this something i could put off a while or would they need prompt attention.
if it is the o-rings, and its ok when you run full throttle in gear, only misses in park or neutral tehn you should have a while. another thing to check is your fuel filter, see if it is black and grungy with oil. i drove mine for a good 6 months daily with mine at your point(if its o-rings) and they just got a little worse with time untill i got the time to replace the rings. every truck is different though, definatly keep an eye on it. but make sure it is o-rings before you make plans
10-4 thanks for the help. i may take a new vid when i get home from work tommrow and see if there is any diffrence with the 10k out and the truck warm. wich makes me think of something, my thermostat is stuck open, truck never gets up to temp good could that have anything to do with it? kinda like the opposite effect of running that hotter thermostat
it could be, if the oil isnt gettig to 170 degrees the pcm will keep the timing advanced which could have adverse effects on the idle quality but no the missing, it would run better with advanced timing but less efficiant on cooler temps
