The passenger door rattles when I drive and am wondering if there is a way to adjust the latch to tighten it up, or is this a problem from old weather strips? Thanks
You can usually adjust the striker plate on the body of truck. Usually takes one of those screwdrivers that you hit with a hammer(forgot name) to loosen that center screw. It's either a phillips or torx head. Set it in just a little and test. Worn weatherstripping can also contribute to this.
X2 on the plastic sleeve. If the weather stripping is worn, you will get whistling, but the latch should be firm around the post, and wont rattle assuming its still good. If you decide to adjust the post, make sure you mark it before you move it, so you have a point of reference.
Check if the plastic sleeve is around the door striker bolt.
Actually there is no plastic around the striker, thats the part that stick out of the door SILL right? Not on the door. It's just a round rod sticking out of the aft door sill. I'll have to check the yards for one of these. Thanks for the replies
