My 2001 F 150 4x4 Lariot makes a kind of "Dank mechanical sound". It appears to happen when the chassis flexes. The truck has 90K miles. I jacked it up by chasis and put stress on the fronts. Horizontal and vertical per front wheel. I can vaguely simulate the "Dank sound". So hard to finger it. Happens on a falt surface going from Nutral to Reverse and back to drive. Can this be the ball joints? I am going to replace all four. Is there a specific brand to use? The truck is a keeper. We checked all CV and U joints as well. Looks good under there. Pretty tight. No leaks, no rust as well. Your thoughts. And Thanks very much. Very educating site.
