I bled my rear brakes again and there was still a lot of air in them, I must have pumped the the pedal 100+ times to clear the air out of the rear right line. I was told 20 - 30 pumps would do.
I did the left next, The thing was after I bled them they felt the same way they did before I bled them.
is there something I'm missing?
I was also told there is an ABS that might need bleeding?
is this a seperate piece? and if so where is it located and how do I bleed it?
i always use a hand vacuum pump/w bottle to bleed my brakes.. always works great.. less mess
i had a similar problem with the front calipers on my old 86 bronco..rounded one of the bleeder screws off.. and the driver's side would NOT budge..finally gave up and replaced both front calipers..
If there is air in your front brake lines then you will still have a spongy pedal..even after bleeding the rears
and if it is still spongy after bleeding ALL wheels, replace the master cylinder. it might have an internal leak...
The bleed screws on the front calipers are siezed and I don't want to break them off . . .
Obvious not the best thing to do, but you could bleed it where the brake line connects to the caliper if that will loosen. It sounds like you need a master cylinder. When I do my brakes it usually only takes about 4-5 pumps to get the air out
Looking at the age of your truck, you would be better off replacing wheel cyls, calipers, M/C, and rubber brake hoses. The brakes are not an area where you want to get too cheap . Do it right and it will last for years. So if you spend two or three hundred bucks now and they last four or five years that's not much over time cost wise.
JL! I was looking over your profile, and we're not too much different. I like shootin up stuff, fishin, huntin, and draggin things around with my truck. I live in a house too!
Yes, yes I do have a manual, it's my bible, just sometimes it's very hard to follow. my rabs light is still on so I was going to try and bleed the Rabs next . . .
